Sivanantha Raja Avaninathan

                         

A.Sivanantha Raja was born on 22nd July 1966 at Kalloorani in Virudhunagar district of Tamilnadu, India. He finished his B.E in the stream of Electronic and Communication Engineering, M.E in Microwave and Optical Communication Engineering and Ph.D. in Information and Communication Engineering. At present he is working as Professor and Head of the department in Alagappa Chettiar Government College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi with 35 years of teaching and research experience. Currently, he is guiding 4 Ph.D. scholars. 12 Ph.D. scholars, 2 M.S scholars and more than 150 M.E scholars have completed their respective degrees under his guidance in the field of optical communication, visible light communication, flexible electronics and biomedical applications. He is interested to undertake research works in the field of Optical Communication and Visible Light Communication. He has published around 108 papers in the reputed indexed international journals and more than 35 papers in international and national non-indexed journals. He has participated / presented in many national and international conferences. Besides he has contributed a 5 book chapters. As a part of his research work, a new instrument namely “Colorimeter with RGB Color Sensor” has been designed and filed for patent.

He is the coordinator of the ‘Entrepreneurship development cell’ (EDC) of Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi. He has got a project fund of Rs.5 Lakhs from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for establishing EDC. He was also instrumental to fetch a grant to the tune of Rs.66 Lakhs under ‘Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure in Higher Educational Institutions’ (FIST) from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. He also organized extreme level of Workshops, Seminars, Faculty Development Programme (FDP), National and International level conferences. He is the chairperson of Optical Communication Engineers Association (OCEA) established in the year 2008 by the department of ECE, Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi. He is a life member of ‘The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers’ and Fellow Member in Optical Society of India. He delivered special lectures, keynote talk in various prestigious institutions.  He also serves as a board member and chief member in advisory and technical committee of various colleges. He is the State Government nominee for the governing council of Sethu Institute of Technology, Kariapatti, Tamilnadu and governing council member of Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology, Pudukkottai, Tamilnadu.
